surprisingly really great the musical part of it hard to obtain next to, but obviously you couldn't do the same exact songs they did in the original so it is definitely a gotta-watch. blunt definitely shined in this is epic second part Mary Poppins is definitely all-time favoured of mine. Babes absolutely loved it. Can claim it was very very well done and not only continues the storyline but matches the original beat for beat. Speaking from an adults perspective who did enjoy the original as a babe, there isn't much content to hold adults entertained. Of course that is unless you love musicals. This is a newest video, not a makeover, with newest actors and a newest storyline and its not meant to supplant the original. Its meant for your babes not so you can cry about how they destroyed your childhood. The video is wonderful, very well written, well acted and the storyline is engaging with a more complex plot. It is still a storyline about saving family.

I could run by claiming that I've never seen the original (I'm sorry). That being claimed, I really enjoyed this video; yes some of the acting was a bit cheesy, but I chalk that up to it being a homage to Disney classics. The visuals were solid, the songs were solid, and Emily Blunt was nice as the titular hero. I suggest it to anyone who enjoys videos like these. Not quite a masterpiece, but definitely memorable and enjoyable for all ages.

I went to see this video alone. I am in my 60s and have very great memories of seeing Mary Poppins with my mother and sister together. I went expecting to be disappointed, and to my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed the video. it doesn't compare to the original, and that is ok. It is refreshing and original in its own right. We know each word of each song and practically each word of the video. We went to see the video together and it did not disappoint! It. Was. FANTASTIC! Disney has seemed to have mixed-bag success with live-action videos this year (with videos like A Wrinkle in Time and their ver of The Nutcracker largely under-performing at the box office and others like Black Panther stunning audiences worldwide), but I trust that Disney has found a hit with Mary Poppins Returns. While the references to the 1960s Mary Poppins video are prevalent throughout, this video provides enough newest content to stand alone without hindering the reputation of the classic video. Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda are both “practically great”, and Marc Shaiman’s score allows for subtle connections to the riveting songs of the first video. All in all, Mary Poppins Returns is a video that recipients of all ages will enjoy, and I am positive that it will search its idea onto my DVD shelves in the near future. Horribly constructed. The time line makes no sense whatsoever. It seemed like certain information were place in to tie it in with the original but made no sense at all to the plot line (ie: Mary gets each second Tuesday off and her cousin gets topsy turvey each second Wednesday in which topic the broken bowl takes zone when Mary has her day off?) Everything is forced here and although Blunt attempts these forced feats with grace it loses the viewer from absorbing the magic she tries to conjure.

Yes I did like the video though really I wanted to hate it. Mary Poppins does not need a sequel but claiming that I like the storyline and elements of the original video are still in this video. What I was not crazy about the time line first of all I obtain the impression than this video is set about 20 years or so after the original ..... why not create it 50 years ? Initial smiles should not be contained as the familiar and now even clearer 17 Cherry Tree Lane filled the screen after the opening credits quickly faded. The score quickly became relentless and squeezed your blood pressure forward from stage to stage; never letting you catch your breath and absorb the moments that we wanted to feel premium. These newest songs played homage to the Shermans’ original work but slightly missed the mark in the fun genre. Songs seem to be written about the fun where as the spirit of the songs could have been the actual fun. These newest forgettable songs remind us how practically perfectly talented the Sherman Brothers are. The same goes for the two leads; Blunt and Miranda. Both check the boxes of satisfying their roles but never completely rising to the high expectations of walking into the theater. Their singing was perfectly pleasant but not the spoon-full of sugar we craved. The animated sequence in the porcelain bowl was one of the most pretty and stylized sequences in the video but not nonpaid from the same script and song troubles.
